As Life Continues.

=> the first four chapters doesn’t really say much...not that I expected much since Sara has to first do a recap and also because they’ve “technically” already solved ali’s murder and A. But even having said that it’s already so obvious that the girls are getting themselves into more trouble in the ways that they do (which I find really surprising since they’re in grade 11).

Emily being still super hung up on her crush on ali isn’t all that surprising since as I’ve said to my friends at times, “crushes are like embers, even though they’ve ‘died out’ they’re always going to be there waiting to be a full blown fire once again.”

As for Hanna...well...i don’t even know where to start with her. Yes I know she use to be bulimic and can relapse easily so I’m not blaming her for almost wanting to purge again, in facts thumbs up to her. Her stepsister Kate however is a whole other story. I understand hanna’s frustration with her and it’s not just sisterly rivalry. When reading about kate, I end up just really wanting to slap hanna’s dad for not even trying to see her pov and always taking kate’s side. It’s like Hanna’s always in the situation thats similar to when I’m super frustrated with my parents and thinking that they’re taking my sister’s side...but instead of it happening like once every year (and probably falsely accusing my parents), it’s happening to Hanna ALL the time.

And Aria, oh Aria. I don’t want to call her a S....t =) but she falls for so many of these older men (well by a few years...7ish maybe?) and like come one girl! You JUST broke up with Ezra and got him fired do you really need to move onto Xavier already?! Ugh, yes I get that as a 16 year old, checking people out is like second nature but it’s like she didn’t have any second thoughts before liking Xavier.

I think I actually feel the most sympathetic towards Spencer. Iunno if it’s just that she has this innocent factor going on (or well so I feel that she does anyways), or that her main drama’s her Golden Orchard essay. And I know that it’s impossible to be perfect which is what she’s trying to do and what her family encourages. I know that even though yes we can push ourselves to try and be prefect, we it’s not possible to be perfect all the time and every time. I think her Nana’s death may be a turning point for her since well at least her parents are talking to her again...

The Past Haunts.

=> this exchange which is written in the prologue between Ian and Ali caught my attention as soon as i read it. the context is that Ali claims knows the location of a piece of the Rosewood Day flag.

Ali: the only way someone is going to get [a piece of the flag] from me is if they kill me first.
Ian: well, if that's what it takes.

since it was reviled in the previous book that it was Ian who murdered Ali, it kinda sent chills down my back cause it in a way foresees the murder. But at the same time it was like ali was asking that reply from ian or else she wouldn’t have said it to begin with since I would assume that at the time she knew ian fairly well. It also just added that much more confusion to her murder since a question that has always been on my mind is “why would ian kill ali if they’re as close as ali makes it seem?” Of course though we know from Unbelievable, that ali was an excellent manipulator and was able to make everyone do everything she wanted so her relationship with ian could have just been another scheme of hers. It’s just nagging though, why would the author feed us this information? This made me sorta rethink the idea of ian being ali’s killer cause for all the other times that information like this was fed, it led to the wrong direction. I like how the author does this though, it keeps the mystery of the books and is what makes them such page turners.

From Lucius Annaeus Seneca.

=> the little quote that is written before the book starts.
“The sun also shines on the wicked.” -Lucius Annaeus Seneca

I don’t think that the author (Sara Shepard) chose this quote only because it had the word wicked in it, this quote was probably also a heads up before starting the book. I see into this quote as telling us that those who are wicked blends in with everyone else. because the sun shines on everyone equally, we end up not seeing the wicked, like finding a needle out of a haystack. This quote actually works not only for this book but for the whole series as well. The author has been able to make the books so unpredictable and makes everyone seem either really innocent or evil that when it was revealed that it was Mona who was A, I was honestly really shocked and had no clue it was coming. (also just a little something in mentality for while reading Wicked, “nothing’s as it seems”
